Diane and Sam argue and Carla chimes
in; "You know, the only thing I enjoy hearing more than you two
arguing on a subject is hearing Cliff talk about Florida.
Cliff gets the hint. |
As a matter
of fact, I was just telling Normie here that Florida is a
pollution-free state. You know how they treat solid waste?
(Carla: "You
said they treated you very well.")
The truth:
Although Florida is far from pollution free, none of it's
cities made the top 20 list of most polluted cities for smog or
particles, with the title going to Los Angeles in both
catagories.
Every county treats it's solid waste in it's own manner, but
here is how Palm Beach does so.
From the website of the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach
County (SWA).
The SWA has built an award-winning integrated system of
facilities that combines recycling, composting, converting
waste to energy through incineration, and landfilling to
effectively manage the county's waste. The SWA's system
includes a waste-to-energy plant, a landfill, a vegetation
processing facility, a compost facility, two materials
recycling facilities, household hazardous waste collection
facilities, and a network of five transfer stations.
