Carla says: "It's like when dogs and cats know when an
earthquake's coming, nobody can explain that.....except Cliff. |

(Carla
throws in: "Your brain")
Once again Cliff is interrupted
without being able to give us his spin on things.
The truth:
Odds are no
matter what Cliff said, he would have been wrong.
There is no scientific evidence cats, dogs or other animals
know when an earthquake is coming.
However, there are people that belive
that they can and in support of the theory claim many instances
of animals fleeing just before a quake. They also cite the fact
that reports of missing pets rise seven fold after an
earthquake.
Should animals be able to predict
quakes, the most likely way is that they can feel the
Earth vibrate before humans or detect electrical changes in the
air or gas released from the Earth.

This might
shake you up.....or not:

In the 1970s, a few studies on animal prediction were done by
the USGS but nothing concrete came out of it.
-
In 2003 a doctor in Japan erratic behavior in dogs, such as
excessive barking or biting, could be used to predict
earthquakes.
-
In 1975 based in part on the observation of the strange
antics of animals, Chinese officials ordered the evacuation
of Haicheng just days before a 7.3-magnitude quake.
