After many trivia-lacking weeks Cliff gets in his second
interesting fact of the show...almost.
Sam ask "Does anybody know anything about plumbing?"
|
Well, the
Romans had an elaborate system of aqueducts there Sammy. They
were, sort of, the forerunners of plumbing...
At this point Cliff is cut off by Sam: "Cliff, Cliff, I need
somebody to help me fix the plumbing."
Cliff responds "Sorry Sam, strictly theory."
The truth:
Although the Romans were famous for their aqueducts, the
Babylonians and Egyptians used them as far back as the 7th
century B.C.
The history of plumbing can be traced back to Babylonia around
6000-3000 B.C. when the western civilization got it's
beginnings.

Some crappy
facts:
-
Thomas Crapper never invented the toilet.
-
The Romans used a stick with a sponge on one end as toilet
paper.
-
17th century castles have indoor bathrooms, and the plumbing
system dumped directly into the surrounding moats.
-
Toilet paper was developed by the British Perforated Paper
Company in 1880.
